Kaziranga National Park

This incredible tour takes you through the 4 unique states of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya and Nagaland in the scenic and mystical region of North East India.

Highlights: Visiting Kaziranga National Park famous for the one-horned rhino, stay in a tea garden, Naga villages, cruise on the Brahmaputra in a country boat, interacting with the tribals of Arunachal Pradesh, the famous Tawang monastery and the traditional markets of Shillong..all combine to make this an epic!



Note about the tour: This is a hard driving adventure and stay in many places in the interiors of Arunachal and Nagaland will be in simple lodges and Govt Guest Houses. The roads in Arunachal Pradesh which is a Himalayan state are mountainous and the highest point at Sela Pass is 14000ft. Meghalaya and Nagaland, though hilly are 'modest' in height. Driving every day can be for long 6-7 hr periods and clean toilets will be hard to find on the drives. This tour is not recommended for those seeking a more comfortable holiday in the North East.

Best time: Kaziranga NP opens around 15 Nov. Hence best time for the tour is from 15 Nov to end April.

Day 1: Guwahati, Assam
Arrive at Guwahati. Received & drive to Kaziranga National Park (230 kms/05 hrs). Over night at Kaziranga.

Day 2: Kaziranga National Park, Assam
Early morning go for elephant ride followed by Jeep Safari to Central range of the National Park. Afternoon Jeep Safari to Western Range of the Park. Over night at kaziranga.

Day 3: Majuli island, Assam
After an early breakfast, drive to Nimatighat and cruise to Majuli Island - the largest river island on earth. Afternoon visit Satras and Villages around. Explore Majuli. Afternoon ferry to mainland and proceed to Jorhat (3 hrs). Over night at Planters Bungalow.

Day 4: Mokokchung, Nagaland
After breakfast, drive to Mokokchung - the Ao country of Nagaland (130 kms / 04 hrs). Afternoon at leisure. Over night at Guesthouse / Similar.

Day 5: Mokokchung, Nagaland
Explore the Ao Naga Villages in & around Mokokchung. Over night at Mokokchung.

Day 6: Mon, Nagaland
After an very early breakfast proceed to Mon - the land of Konyiak Nagas ( 220 kms / 08 hrs). Over night stay at lodge.

Day 7: Mon, Nagaland
After an early breakfast, visit Sui & Langnue village of Mon. Over night at Mon.

Day 8: Dibrugarh, Assam
Drive to Dibrugarh ( 200 kms / 07 hrs). Over night at Heritage Planters Bungalow.

Day 9: Arunachal Pradesh
After an early breakfast, Cruise on Brahmaputra to passighat (7hrs) of Arunachal Pradesh. Over night stay at  Guesthouse / Hotel.
 
Day 10: Along, Arunachal Pradesh

After breakfast, drive to Along (147 kms / 05 hrs) - land of Adi gallong tribes of Arunachal Pradesh. Afternoon visit Dwarka Village. Enroute enjoy the great view of Siang river and Syiom river confluence. Over night at Govt Circuithouse / Hotel.

Day 11: Kabo village and trek, Arunachal Pradesh
Explore Along. Visit Kabo Village and trek to farmer”s country towards Tutin. Over night at Along.

Day 12: Daporizo, Arunachal Pradesh
After breakfast, drive to Daporizo (176 kms / 07 hrs) - land of Tagin and Hillmiris tribes of Arunachal Pradesh. Over night at Govt. rest house at Damporizo (basic).

Day 13: Ziro and the Apatani tribe, Arunachal Pradesh
Drive to Ziro - the land of Apatani Tribes of Arunachal. Afternoon will visit Hong Village. Over night at Hotel.

Day 14: Ziro and the Apatani tribe, Arunachal Pradesh
Full day explore Apatani villages and Nishi tibal Village. Over night at Ziro.

Day 15: Tezpur
After breakfast, drive to tea estate in Tezpur (310 kms / 07 hrs). Over night at Planters Bungalow.

Day 16: Dirang village, Arunachal Pradesh
After breakfast will drive to Dirang - the land of Monpas of Arunachal Pradesh (160 kms / 06 hrs). Enroute visit Tippi Orchid Centre, Sherdukpen tribal village at Rupa. Over night at Hotel.

Day 17: Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh
After breakfast will drive to Tawang (141 kms / 06 hrs). Enroute visit Sela pass (14000ft), Jaswantgarh and sange Village. Over night at hotel.

Day 18: Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh
Explore Tawang. Tawang Monastery, Anni Gompa (women Monastery) and Pangong Tang Tso (Lake). Over night at Tawang.

Day 19: Dirang village, Arunachal Pradesh
After breakfast will drive to Dirang for over night stay at hotel.

Day 20: Excursion from Dirang
Full day at Dirang. Will visit & trek to Sangte valley and Dirang Dzong. Over night at hotel.

Day 21: Dirang to Tezpur in Assam
Drive to Tea estate Planters Bungalow. Afternoon option to visit the Historic town of Tezpur. Over night.

Day 22: Tezpur to Shillong in Meghalaya
After an early breakfast drive to Shillong (300 kms / 07 hrs). Over night stay at Royal Heritage Tripura Castle in Shillong.

Day 23: Excursion to Cherrapunjee and local sights
After breakfast, drive to Cherrapunjee - the 2nd wettest place on earth. Enroute visit Elephant falls, Maswamai cave, Nohkalika Falls, Thanngkaram park (overlooking Bangladesh) and Shillong Peak.

Day 24: Shillong local tour
After  leisurely breakfast, visit the largest traditional Market - Bara Bazar and the Colonial Part of Shillong. Afternoon enjoy the traditional Archery at Polo ground. Over night at Shillong.

Day 25: Drive to Guwahati airport, 3hrs
After breakfast, drive to Guwahati Airport for onward destination.
